Reall develop, refine and share innovative housing models that unlock the political will, capital investment and end-user finance needed to create the conditions for hard-working families to secure their own homes.
They do this because affordable homes not only provide a fundamental human right, they unleash unimaginable human potential to shape a future of gender parity, climate resilience, clean air, renewable energy and socio-economic justice.
In this particular story Bushra Zulfiqar describes the squalid and dangerous housing situation she was in before Reall helped her move to a secure and sanitary development in Safiya, where she and other women and their children can go into the park at night in safety.
To capture and highlight this life-changing work, the Olaus Team travelled to Nigeria, Pakistan and Kenya. Our production team helped Reall navigate the complex issues of filming in the thrid world, regarding visas, logsitics of travel with camera kit (Pakistan for example has harsh filming restrictions, and moving kit into and out of the country needs careful negotiation), security concerns, innoculations and arrangement of local fixers with knowledge of the culture, customs and of course - language.
