Reall develop, refine and share innovative housing models that unlock the political will, capital investment and end-user finance needed to create the conditions for hard-working families to secure their own homes.
They do this because affordable homes not only provide a fundamental human right, they unleash unimaginable human potential to shape a future of gender parity, climate resilience, clean air, renewable energy and socio-economic justice.
In this story Shazia describes how Reall helped her obtain a new home where she is able to live peacefully and securely as a single mother with her son, where before despite being a successful small business woman, she would struggle even after ten years to mortgage a house.
To capture and highlight this life-changing work, the Olaus Team travelled to Nigeria, Pakistan and Kenya. Our production team helped Reall navigate the complex issues of filming in the thrid world, regarding visas, logsitics of travel with camera kit (Pakistan for example has harsh filming restrictions, and moving kit into and out of the country needs careful negotiation), security concerns, innoculations and arrangement of local fixers with knowledge of the culture, customs and of course - language.
