Tourism can bring much needed economic opportunities for local communities and funds for conservation. But, when not well managed, it can create long term problems for local residents and environmental damage.
The Travel Foundation aim to reduce the negative impacts of tourism and harness opportunities for local livelihoods and conservation.
To help achieve this, Olaus Roe filmed a series of case studies in global tourist locations to show how they support tourism stakeholders
to create systemic change in the way that tourism is managed. This includes interviewing local small business people such as this lime farmer who, thanks to the Travel Foundation, is selling directly to the Hilton Hotel, where before the limes were sourced further afield.
